To Dance

We often resist what we most need,

that which burns us

brings us forth,

like a phoenix out of sorrows ash.

To walk through fire,

to turn the finger on ourselves,

to talk freely

without a trace of pride

or jealousy.

Sometimes

we are blind

to the thirst of our own senses.

Like the whispers of lost love,

like that fragment of verse

carrying the world within it

or how our feet

refuse to dance

to that heart-rhythm

Flamenco pound and strum.

To dance!

To open love’s door

and fall into the burning morning.

To play uninhibited games

like the wondrous children of summer.

The sentiments in this poem are just beautiful, Giovanni. It’s when we listen to our hearts instead of our heads that we really find the passion and joy in life…
